Bursting Stone - selected images

The rural areas of the North West regions of England are defined by their ‘walls borders and boundaries’. Using the notion of the ‘wall’ as a metaphor the work examines the contemporary industries of towns just out at the boundary points of the Cumbria National Park/the Lake District. The geology of the area dictates the way the land has been developed through the exploitation of natural elements. Black & white panoramic images present an alternative view to the ‘chocolate-box’ image of the Lake District tourist view. Panoramic images mimic our ocular vision and recall the 'wall' as a porous border point.
A boxed set of hand produced items including, river and geology specimens, hand tinted and toned unique photographs, scientific illustrations, polaroid transfer and texts from local site within the National Park.
